Med Cruise Photos

Friends for more than two decades, Craig finally meets Madeline. Connected for life, we'll enjoy many exciting times together - his story is amazing! His sister, Barb, joined us with her children Conner and Lindsey -- such beauty!! We want to be with them more!! 

Day Three: Kataolon, Greece

I knew today was going to be a great one when I woke early enough to enjoy the international paper and sunrise before my fitness class. The Odyssey arrived into Kataolon (Olympia – 25 miles) at 8:00 and we left the ship around 10:00.

Instead of hiring a driver we rented a car and headed north to Olympia. For Madeline, sharing what the Olympic games are all about takes a solid understanding when we visited the ruins of where the first games took place over 2000 years ago. Very cool! Today, I needed many pinches to make sure I wasn’t dreaming.

A brief visit to the ocean and then back to the ship for an afternoon on the deck, enjoying the salt-water pool. Watching Madeline and her new friends hop from pool to hot tub and then to the bar for juices and ice creams is a total treat! We’ve gotten to that place where she’s good to go – our little independent Libra is just that. 

Mediterranean Cruise Photos

JAM flies to Athens, Greece to board the Seabourn Odyssey on a seven night cruise, Adriatic Wonders. After sailing on Holland America for many cruises, it was time to check out Carnival's higher end brand, Seabourn. The experience was beyond our expectations! Only 450 passengers on this ship, service was over the top!

Day Two: Gythion

It was at least 100 degrees when we arrived at the seashore this morning; there were no umbrellas available for shade and the sand was like walking on a hot stovetop. My first thought was to get back into the cab and return to the comfort of our ship, the Odyssey.  Quickly snapping out of it, I thought there was no way I wouldn’t swim in Mediterranean Sea and surround myself with beautiful Greeks splashing around enjoying this fabulous Sunday. We found shade under a table umbrella, ordered ice, water, cucumbers and tomatoes, slipped into a dressing room with Madeline and came out hitting the scorching sand running for the water. Completely doused in sunscreen we played, swam, collected rocks and soaked up time on the seashore. 

Retuning to the ship, we snacked and played in the pool with Angelina, who is quickly becoming Madeline’s new best friend, along with Carter and Katelyn. Angelina is seven and attends a private school in Manhattan. Her father, image in your mind Woody Allen’s twin, is an artist that I am looking forward to chatting with soon. Her mother is a chocolatier and owns two sweet shops in the city. Carter and Katelyn are from Birmingham, AL who has been on the ship already for a week. Their parents are pure southerners who fit the bill completely.

Returning to the cabin for a long nap, we woke just in time for Madeline to join her friends in the club. Drew and I enjoyed an 11-course meal at Restaurant 2.  The fare included lots of firsts for both of us – white anchovies, oxtail, foams, gelatins, - it was truly a culinary experience, never to be forgotten. 

Cruise Photos

After many hours of travel, 9 hour time difference we made it to Athens. Madeline and I met up with Drew in Paris and then all flew together to Athens. We checked into the Hotel Grande Bretagne and immediately closed all blinds and slept. Four hours later we woke and headed for the pool and a nice roof-top dinner. Lights out at 11:00. Madeline still sleeping as I write this post Saturday morning at 10:30! TIme for this girl to wake up, Athens and Seabourn awaits us!
